Travel
Ticket means either the Electronic Ticket or the paper document entitled “Passenger Ticket and Baggage Check”, in each issued by us or on our behalf, and includes the Conditions of Contract, notices and Coupons.
Fare
Fare Applicability
Fares apply only to carriage from the airport at the point of origin to the airport at the point of destination. Ticket fares do not include ground transport.
Normal Fare
Normal Fare means the highest fare established for Business Class and Economy Class that is applicable within a mentioned period.
Special Fare
Special fare means all fare types other than “Normal Fare”.
Helpful Tip
Special fare tickets / some discounted tickets involve restrictions of use, including, but not limited to, Non-Refundable, Non-Rebooking, and Non-Endorsable. When making a booking, please be aware of the fare restrictions of your ticket so that you can choose the most suitable fare for yourself.
Ticket Validity
The period of validity, ticket is subject to our relevant policies and refer to concerns Terms & Conditions.
Fees and Taxes
Applicable Fees and Taxes levied by government authorities or other relevant authorities or airport operators for providing services to passengers, insurance surcharges and fuel surcharges are not included in the applicable fare and shall be payable by the passenger.
Itinerary of E-ticket for Air Transport
The Itinerary of E-ticket is a payment or reimbursement voucher for passengers that have purchased the e-ticket. You may obtain it from Myanmar Airways International or from our authorized agents either at the time of e-ticket purchase.
Reservation and Ticket Purchase
You can make a reservation and purchase a ticket via our website, booking offices or authorized agents. Please make the payment within the required time period after booking; else, your reservation and your booked seat will be canceled automatically.
At the time of ticket issuance, you need to show your valid passports, visas, etc. The valid passports presented at the time of ticket issuance must be the same as that presented at the time of check-in.
The disabled, pregnant, and sick passengers need to present all the necessary documentation which they are fit to travel by air. The documentation shall be issued by an authorized doctor accredited by the airline.
Changes to Ticket
After ticket issued, if you need to change your flight, date of travel, or class of service, please notify us as soon as possible and we will handle your request based on the fare conditions of your ticket. If your ticket was a discount ticket, there may be no seats at the same discount as your original booking on your desired flight.
You are required to pay the fare difference in addition to the changes fee if the class of service can be changed.
Reconfirmation of Ticket Reservation
Existing reservations for onward or return flights will not be required for reconfirmation. However, if other carriers require the passenger to reconfirm the onward or return reservation, a failure to comply with any such requirement will entitle the concerned carriers to cancel the onward or return reservation.
You are strongly suggested to keep yourself updated on the reconfirmation requirements of the concerned carriers.
Use of Flight Coupons and Sequence
The flight coupons must be used in the sequence printed in the passenger coupon of the ticket. Travel out of sequence is not allowed. In the case of passenger change itinerary, the airline will determine the fares based on the new itinerary. Passenger will have to pay any additional amount between the original paid and the total fares applicable of the new itinerary, the unused coupons of passenger ticket cannot be used anymore.
Advance Seating Request
You may request your favorite seat in advance during booking time and during check-in on some flights.
However, we cannot guarantee the availability of any particular seat you have requested. Even after boarding of the aircraft and this may be necessary for operational, safety or security reasons, we reserve the right to assign and reassign onboard seats at any time.
Limitations of Carriage
Unaccompanied minor, disabled persons, pregnant women, persons with illness or other requiring special assistance who acceptance for carriage is subject to prior arrangement with us. We reserve the right to refuse carriage to any passenger who fails to keep us properly informed or produce relevant proof at the time of ticket purchase.
Refund
If you request a refund after the ticket issued, please contact us within your ticket validity period.
We will process your request according to the fare conditions of your ticket. Your request for a refund shall be made at the original ticket issuance, and you shall present valid travel documents to verify your request. If you have to change your travel plan due to reasons on the part of Myanmar Airways International, you may request a refund and you will get an involuntary refund, free of charge.
If you request a refund of your own accord, you will get a voluntary refund and be charged a refund fee in accordance with our applicable procedures. In case, you have issued ticket by applying very special discounted fares, refund accordance with our applicable fares policy.
Check-in
You can check-in at airport check-in counters and you are strongly advised to be at the designated airport in advance to an extent that leaves you sufficient time for the relevant formalities. Check-in deadlines differ according to airports and if passengers fail to check-in before check-in deadlines, the airline has the right to cancel your reservation. You are required to present your valid ID for check-in and security check.
Prohibited Items for Carriage as Baggage
Flammables, explosives (e.g. lighters, matches), poisonous, corrosive, and radioactive substances which are harmful to aircraft safety and prohibited from carriage by law, rules or government regulations. Firearms, ammunition, ordnances, police equipment, crossbows, daggers are prohibited items and controlled by the state. Perishable fresh items of pungent odor such as seafood and durians, items which are not suitable for carriage. Please contact us for details.
Prohibited Items for Carriage as Checked Baggage
Lithium batteries and lithium battery mobile power packs, lighters, lighter fuel, perishable items, fragile and breakable items. Please contact us for more information.
Items not Advisable to carry in Checked Baggage
Following items are not advisable for you to include in your Checked Baggage: money, jewelry, negotiable papers, important documents, identification documents, passports, precious metals, paintings and calligraphic works, laptops, personal electronic devices, samples, or other valuables and prescribed medicine to be taken regularly.
Restricted Items for Carriage
Foldable electric wheelchairs, sport equipment, electrical appliances, dry ice and alcoholic drinks can be carried only if they are in accordance with all relevant regulations and have got prior permission. Please contact us for details.
Baggage Packing
Strongly advised to properly pack and secure with lock your checked baggage, able to be resistance for normal operations and shouldn’t be over-packed and overweight than the baggage resistance limitation. We reserve the right to refuse carriage of any baggage which fails to meet the specified requirements, and we shall not be held responsible for any damage arising there from.

Baggage that fails to meet the above regulations shall be checked baggage.
Liquids, Aerosols, and Gels (LAGs) in cabin baggage are subject to government regulations.
It's in cabin baggage and has a maximum capacity of 100 milliliters each. Containers with liquid contents must be packed in a re-sealable, transparent plastic bag. The total capacity of a plastic bag must not exceed one liter.
Security Check
According to government regulations, you and your checked/carry-on baggage shall be subject to a security check before boarding.
Flight Change and Cancellation
Compliance with government regulations and national laws, in the interest of flight safety and for any uncontrollable or unforeseeable reasons, we may change the aircraft type or route, cancel, suspend or delay any flight without prior notice.
Assistance on Flight Disruption
In the situation of flight delay or cancellation due to aircraft deployment, crew rescheduling, equipment maintenance, and other commercial factors on the part of Myanmar Airways International, we will inform you up to date on the flight and provide with meals and drinks, hotel accommodations and other services if needed. In the situation of flight delay or cancellation due to air traffic control, weather, emergencies and other factors or caused by any personal problems on the part of any passenger, we will inform you up-to-date on the flight and help arrangement of meals and hotel accommodation for passenger, but the relevant expenses are payable by the passenger.
Damaged or Delayed Bags
Liability for Checked Baggage:
- The Carrier is liable, in accordance with the Warsaw Convention 1929 & Department of Civil Aviation regulations, for pilferage, loss, or damage of checked baggage due to the negligence of the Carrier or its agents during Air Transport.
- Carrier shall not be liable for any baggage unsuitable for normal handling of air transport, such as improperly or inadequately packed baggage, poor quality hard-shell suitcase, suitcase wheels, etc.
- Carrier's liability is limited unless the passenger has made a special value declaration at check-in & paid any applicable supplementary fees. If you complete a special declaration of higher value at check-in & pay the applicable fee, our liability shall be limited to the higher declared value subject to proof of loss.
Lost or Delayed Baggage:
- In the event of baggage loss or delay, the Carrier will make every effort to locate and return your baggage as swiftly as possible.
- Compensation for lost or delayed baggage will be provided in accordance with the unamended Warsaw Convention’s regulations, which set limits on the amount the airline can compensate.
Damaged Baggage:
- If your checked baggage is damaged during air transport, please report it immediately upon arrival. The concerned Carrier is liable for damages but within the limitations set forth by the Warsaw Convention.
- Carrier is not liable if the damage resulted from inherent defect quality or vice of baggage.
- You may be required to provide evidence of the damage and complete a claim form for processing.
- Despite our careful handling, scratches, scuffs, and dirt may occur on your baggage. In accordance with the applicable Convention or other governing laws, the Carrier is not liable for normal wear and tear, which includes damage to or loss of protruding parts such as straps, pockets, pull handles, hangar hooks, wheels, or similar items attached to your baggage.
Important Considerations:
- The Warsaw Convention limits the airline's liability, and certain items of high value should not be placed in checked baggage.
- In the event of a claim, the Carrier may compensate up to USD 20 per kilogram using a coupon applicable to purchase airlines’ related services or products.
- The maximum limits of liability (Warsaw Convention) shall not apply if it is proved the damage resulted from an act or omission done by us, or our agents, with intent to cause damage or recklessly and with the knowledge that damage would probably result provided that in the case of our agent, they were acting in the scope of their employment.
- Passengers are advised to consider purchasing additional travel insurance for items of value.
- Carrier is not liable for injury to you or damage to your Baggage caused by property contained in the passenger’s Baggage. The passenger is responsible for any damage caused by his or her Baggage to other people and property, including our property. Any Passenger whose property causes injury to another person or damage to our or another person’s property shall indemnify us for all losses and expenses incurred by us as a result thereof.
- Restricted Items of air transport are not acceptable in Checked Baggage, whether with or without the Carrier’s knowledge; the Carrier is not liable in any way for damage to or loss or delay in the delivery of such restricted items. These restricted items include fragile or perishable items, items with a special value, such as money, jewelry, precious metals, silverware, computers, personal electronic devices, share certificates, bonds and other valuable documents, negotiable papers, business documents, or passports and other identification documents, securities, and other valuables, samples, medicines or drugs. In the event of any claim for damage, delay, or loss, Carrier reserves the right to all defenses of contributory negligence specified in the Conventions or pursuant to the applicable law.
- If your baggage is damaged, delayed, or lost, you must make a complaint in writing to us regarding which the damage, delay, or loss occurred as soon as possible and, in any event, within the applicable time limits.
The minimum quality standards for baggage suitable for air travel generally include the following criteria:
Durability
- Material Strength: Baggage should be made from durable materials such as high-quality plastic, polycarbonate, or reinforced fabric to withstand the rigors of air travel.
- Structural Integrity: The baggage should maintain its shape and protect its contents even when subjected to pressure, such as when stacked with other luggage.
Secure Closures
- Zippers and Locks: Zippers should be sturdy and functional, with secure locking mechanisms. TSA-approved locks are recommended for added security and compliance with security regulations.
- Seams and Stitching: The seams should be double-stitched or reinforced to prevent splitting under pressure.
Protruding Parts
- Handles and Straps: Handles, straps, and pull handles should be firmly attached and made from robust materials to handle the weight of the baggage.
- Wheels: If the baggage has wheels, they should be firm, properly aligned, and securely attached to ensure smooth movement.
Water Resistance
- Baggage should offer a degree of water resistance to protect contents from moisture during transit, particularly in the cargo hold.
Identification and Labeling
- Name Tags: The baggage should have a secure and visible place for attaching identification tags.
- Brand and Size Information: Baggage should have clear labels indicating the brand, size, and other relevant details.
Weight and Size Compliance
- Baggage should meet the size and weight limits set by airlines. Overweight or oversized baggage may not be accepted or may incur additional fees.
Aesthetic Condition
While aesthetics is less critical, the baggage should be free from significant damage, such as large dents, holes, or other.

Children Travelling Alone
Meet and Assist Service: We can provide an escort at the request of their parents or legal guardians for:
- Unaccompanied Minors - Aged between 6 to 12
- Young Passengers - Aged between 12 to 16
- Children, 3 or 4 years of age may be accompanied by another passenger 12 to 15 years of age provided that unaccompanied minor procedures are followed for both.

Helpful Tip about Travel Requirements
You may require a visa to travel to some destinations. It is your sole responsibility to obtain this visa. Before purchasing tickets, you should full understanding of the rules and regulations on entry, exit and transit and the applicable laws of the countries where you are going to travel to and learn about other important travel information. You must have a valid passport for the duration of your trip and the expiry date must be acceptable in all the countries you enter. More information on passport and visa requirements is available at the embassy of the country or countries you will be traveling to. During travel, make sure to bring all the required valid travel documents (like passport and visa) and comply with entry, exit and transit’s requirements and other rules and regulations of the country you are traveling in. If you fail to provide the required or valid travel documents, you could end up being denied entry or exit, and you will be held responsible for any consequences and all losses that could arise therefrom.
